Hulkenberg Targets Points

After failing to make the grid in Australia, Sauber star Nico Hulkenberg returned to the top ten in Malaysia with an excellent performance. His eighth place finish was a worthy reward after a long battle with Kimi Raikkonen. The German is looking to add to his points tally this weekend, despite describing the Shanghi International Circuit as "not one of my favourite tracks."

The C32 may not have exploded onto the scene like its predecessor did just 12 months ago, however, Hulkenberg proved that it is a car which is capable of challenging for points. His performance in Malaysia cannot be understated, especially considering the lack of competitive mileage the German had achieved.Hulkenberg has set his sights on another top ten finish in China. While the Pirelli tyres could prompt unpredictable results similar to that of last season, Nico does not want to become over ambitious. "The circuit in Shanghai is not particularly one of my favourite tracks," Hulkenberg said. "Nevertheless it's a demanding one, especially the first few corners and the corners before the back straight. Tyres and strategy will be very important during the weekend. At the beginning of the race in Malaysia my rear wing endplate was damaged, which caused a loss of downforce. I have a better feeling now I have driven my first race in the C32, especially because we were able to collect a lot of information. In Malaysia we scored points and that is also my goal for China."
Hulkenberg may be mildly concerned by Force India's current form. His former team have exploded into life this season, showing excellent pace, eclipsing that of his new team. Hulkenberg has stated that his main goal is to earn points, however, finishing ahead of the Force India duo may take prominence in his weekend plan. It will certainly be a tricky task, despite the C32's promising pace in Malaysia.
